Which glasses to choose for the computer?

Spending many hours in front of a computer screen contributes to the increase of the accommodation voltage in the eye and to the reduction of the blinking frequency. Which glasses should I use to work with computer?

Eyewear for computer work without visual impairments

Computer glasses with anti-reflective coating improve the quality of work, because thanks to the coating the eyes do not get tired of reflecting light in the lenses. There is no occurrence of light reflections on both sides that cause the light to appear:

  • limiting the clarity of vision,

  • distraction,

  • eye irritation.

They can be purchased in two variants: glasses for computer work with no vision correction, but they are anti-reflective glasses and prescription glasses for people with impaired eyesight who also have this coating.

Main advantages of the anti-reflection coating:

  • It excludes unwanted light reflections, so that almost 100% of the light reaches the eye,

  • ensures greater transparency of the lenses,

  • provides a higher contrast of vision,

  • hydrophobic layer, i. e. one of the elements of the coating increases the resistance of glasses to evaporation and wetting with water,

  • enhances the aesthetics of glasses by giving them a subtle colouring,

  • thanks to it reflections do not disturb vision contact with other person,

  • reduces the feeling of fatigue when working in front of a computer, watching TV or in rooms with artificial lighting,

  • increases safety while driving, mainly at night and in the rain.

Lenses are selected and fitted in frames on the basis of pupil spacing and therefore, in order to perform their function properly, the eye must always look through the same point of the glass.

DIn addition, anti-reflective glasses should be lightweight so as not to press the skin against the backrest, e. g. the nose or behind the ears. For this purpose, in the case of glasses, the method used to correct large defects when they are thick and heavy is to make the lens thinner and more delicate.
